Honest answers to the questions we hear most often. If your question isn't covered here, give us a call. We love a good solar yarn.
For a typical SA home, a fully installed 6.6kW system starts from around $4,490 and a 10kW system from around $7,990 after the federal STC rebate. Final price depends on your roof type, switchboard, distance from our base, and the components you choose. We'll always give you a transparent fixed quote. No surprises on installation day.
The right size depends on three things: your daily power use (kWh on your bill), when you use it (daytime vs evening), and your roof. As a rough guide, a household using 20–25 kWh/day usually fits a 6.6kW system; a larger home with ducted A/C, a pool or an EV typically wants 10–13kW. We'll size yours properly using your last 12 months of bills.
For most SA households, payback lands between 3 and 5 years for a well-sized solar-only system. Adding a battery extends payback to 7–10 years, but the new federal Cheaper Home Batteries rebate has shortened that significantly. After payback, you're saving money for another 20+ years of system life.
Almost certainly yes. North-facing roofs are the gold standard, but east and west panels still produce 85–90% of north's output and often match your usage pattern better. We can install on tin (Trimdek/Klip-Lok), tile (Colourbond, terracotta), and flat roofs. We'll do a free roof assessment as part of any quote.
With the 2025 Cheaper Home Batteries federal rebate now live (~30% off installed cost), batteries make financial sense for many households for the first time. If your evening usage is high, your feed-in tariff is low, and you're sick of grid price hikes. Now is a genuinely good time. We'll model the payback for you so you can decide with real numbers, not hype.
We install Tesla Powerwall, Sigenergy, Sungrow, and Alpha ESS: all premium, well-warranted batteries with strong Australian support. For off-grid we also use Power Plus Energy. We're an authorised Tesla installer and have certified technicians for each platform we sell.
It can, but only if it's specifically configured for backup. Standard battery installs do not automatically provide backup; that requires a backup-circuit changeover or a whole-home gateway (like Tesla Backup Gateway). Whole-home backup adds cost but is hugely valuable in SA's stormy months. Just ask us upfront and we'll quote both options.
Two main ones: the federal Small-scale Technology Certificate (STC) rebate (worth thousands, applied at point of sale) and the Cheaper Home Batteries Program (~30% off battery cost, also at point of sale). We handle all the paperwork. You'll see the discount applied directly to your installed price.
Yes, every time. Pre-approval, post-install commissioning, smart-meter integration, export-limit configuration. You don't have to talk to SAPN once.
A typical residential install is a one-day job. Larger systems (10kW+) or battery installs may run into a second day. After install, SAPN's smart meter swap usually takes 2–4 weeks; in the meantime your system runs but doesn't export.
You get three layers of cover: panel manufacturer warranty (typically 25–30 years product, 25 years performance), inverter warranty (5–10 years standard, extendable to 20), and our 10-year workmanship warranty on the installation itself. Battery warranties are typically 10 years.
Yes, we regularly take on orphaned systems whose original installer has gone out of business (a common SA story). We can diagnose faults, replace inverters, swap panels, and bring the system back into compliance. Call us with the brand and we'll let you know what's involved.
Every system we install includes Wi-Fi monitoring through the inverter manufacturer's app (Fronius Solar.web, Goodwe SEMS, Sungrow iSolarCloud, Sigenergy mySigen, Tesla App). You'll see live generation, daily/monthly totals, and battery state of charge from your phone.
Modern panels are largely self-cleaning when it rains. We recommend a visual inspection once a year and a professional clean every 2–5 years if you're in a dusty rural location or near salt spray. Beyond that, modern systems are remarkably hands-off. That's the whole point.
